ERE-E for charging hubs and depots
Electricity supplied to electric trucks, buses and vans can generate LRE-E. You need to measure the delivery and establish who may register it.
Which kWh count?
Charging road vehicles falls within the land sector. This covers public charging hubs and depots used only by your own fleet. Electricity for offices, site lighting, workshops and other buildings does not count.
Measure the electricity at the delivery point to the vehicle. The import meter on a mixed connection also records other consumption and is not sufficient for this purpose. Electricity returned by vehicles cannot be registered.
Set up the metering
The NEa accepts three ways to demonstrate that electricity goes exclusively to transport:
- A main connection used only for transport.
- A secondary allocation point used only for transport.
- An integrated MID meter in every charge point.
The measured delivery to the vehicle remains the basis. Link it to the charging sessions in your management system. Keep records of faults and corrections so you can explain differences later. Who registers the deliveries?
Check who is recorded as the connected party in the Central Connections Register. Owning the chargers or holding the electricity supply contract does not automatically give you the right to register.
Independent registration generally requires at least 2 million kWh supplied to transport per year. An exception applies to businesses already registering other renewable energy carriers. Below the threshold, registration goes through a registration service provider. You can also outsource it above the threshold.
Solar generation and storage
For grid electricity, the REV applies a renewable share of 50.5% in 2026. A green electricity contract does not change that percentage.
On-site generation can qualify as 100% renewable if the conditions are met. You must trace the generated electricity to the vehicle. Mixed consumption and battery storage require additional data. Check the conditions for 100% renewable electricity before including that income in your budget.
